Cameron Algie is a solicitor who works across the fields of property, planning, environment, water, building and local government law. He completed a Bachelor of Laws with Honours in 2020 with a thesis on the interaction of public and private law in the Australian legal system. In 2019, he completed a Graduate Diploma of Arts with a thesis considering the historical development of water law and the riparian doctrine in colonial Victoria.
Cameron contributes to the profession through the Planning and Environmental Law Section (PELS) of the Law Institute of Victoria as co-chair of the Environmental Issues Committee and as an active member of the Planning and Local Government Committee. He was elected deputy-chair in May 2023 of the National Environmental Law Association (NELA) Climate Change Working Group and is also a participating member the Society of Construction Law Australia (SOCLA).
Cameron is a planning law tutor in the graduate school of the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning at the University of Melbourne. He is passionate about Indigenous law, particularly as it relates to the environment and cultural heritage protection and has studied several Indigenous languages, including Yolŋu and Arabunna.
