Turandurey, Kitty and the Surveyor (Major Mitchell)

Following the lives of Turandurey and Kitty, Dr Leonie Kelleher’s recent article in Traverse, the journal of the Victorian Division of the Institute of Surveyors, shares her research on the cohort of Aboriginals who accompanied and guided Major Mitchell on his journey of “discovery”. This article outlines the significant role of Aboriginal explorers, in particular female Aboriginal explorers who are now almost entirely overlooked.
